Welcome to the first Partnership Development Workshop which took place at Osgoode Hall Law School (York University) in Toronto, Canada. This workshop was a cooperative research project between Osgoode Hall Law School, the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and the Centre for Social Justice – Abuja. The workshop was hosted by the Nathanson Centre on Transnational Human Rights, Crime and Security and the theme explored was the Canadian-Nigerian human rights cooperation between 1999 and 2011.
The workshop was part of a four-year collaborative research and dissemination project led by Professor Obiora Okafor (Osgoode), Professor Dakas C.J. Dakas (NIALS) and Mr. Eze Onyekpere (CENSOJ). It was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. The purpose of the workshop was to engage in joint academic debates and knowledge mobilization about the nature, attainments, problems and prospects of human rights cooperation between Canada and Nigeria.
